Divisions
Farm: Ages 7-9
Rookie: Ages 6-8

Farm Division (Ages 7-9): Westfield Little League's Farm Division includes advanced 7-8 year olds and 9 year olds not drafted by Wheeler teams. A strong emphasis is placed on fundamentals and basic strategy. Coaches are encouraged to balance playing time and rotate players to different positions throughout the season. Players bat in rotation and pitch all 6 innings each game. Teams typically play 1-2 games per week and practice at least once per week. The schedule includes approximately 15 games. At this level, players are not retained by teams from season-to-season. All players are eligible to be selected to All-Star Teams.

Rookie Division (Ages 6-8): Westfield Little League's Rookie Division includes all 6 year olds and 7-8 year olds not drafted by Instructional teams. The league was designed to provide players with a smooth transition from T-Ball to baseball. Games are played on modified Little League diamonds at Paper Mill and North Middle School. At the beginning of the season, bases are 40 feet apart, and the pitching rubber is moved in to 35 feet from home plate. As the season progresses, and players develop, the bases and pitching rubber are moved back so that participants are playing on Instructional sized diamonds by the end of the season. Both players and coaches pitch in games towards mid-season. In addition, all participants attend clinics early in the year. During the clinics, players cycle through stations in a fast-paced environment. A heavy emphasis is placed on fundamentals and FUN!

All-Stars (7-9 Division): Westfield Little League fields All-Star teams in several divisions on an annual basis each summer. Players are selected in mid-June, and games begin approximately two weeks later. Teams play or practice 4-6 days a week until they’re eliminated from their respective tournaments.
